If we can get only half as happy as the Osh Kosh B'gosh guy we will be having an excellent day.

Enjoy the day folks

Happy 4th SDH. I'm listening to the very nice matrix from 12-11-79. I typically like the more up tempo shows from 80-84, however this makes you appreciate the tight playing from fall of '79. They really seem to be listening to each other and feeding off each others energy.

I'n not always a fan of the matrix recording however this is an example of where the sum of the 2 is superior to the individual recordings.

Can never go wrong with Fall/Winter 79. Jerry and everyone seemed re-energized by the "new guy", even with his circus organ. Playing was tight and full of energy.

How many times have you felt like the Grateful Dead have come along and busted you out of some metaphorical prison cell and dragged you out into the sunshine? And damn but don't they look young and happy there?

Sincere good wishes for a scintillating Independence Day - hope you have a most excellent time in whatever you do.

Like Papillon emerging from 5 years in solitary confinement in a French Guiana penal colony, dazed, half blind, unwashed...wait I just described the typical post-show parking lot denizen...the Dead have indeed been liberators, cutting loose the chains of musical ignorance and setting free the inner eye of our innermost self.

Damn, its a holiday and here I am still spewing self-important bullshit. I gotta learn to relax (just like everybody should)
